I Fell In Love With New York

- After - Wednesday, December 20th, 2006 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

I first romanced the beat
After weaving poetry
With music
I first romanced the cans
After I took time to just lose it
Using lines to speak
In two ways
One.
Metaphor falls in love with simile
Two.
Metaphor and simile make love in the streets of new york
Three. A poem is born and I pick up a mic and spit with no one behind me

Flickering lights showed me the way after I saw productions that made
My want more
As the subway kept on moving

I fell in love with hip hop in new york city
I fell in love with a culture

While words dripped from tips of fingers
to magnetic reactions that casted cans in my hand
and the beat in my heart

I fell In love with someone in New York City
They have one name
That name I will never speak
Not only because I don’t know it.
But because they way that color bonded with color
I knew I was invincible
Then i woke up
The police where at my door
And I started all over again.
With two tips and can.
