I found her there forlorn, beaten up, ignored, an old lush past her prime. It broke my heart to see a once gracious lady in this state.
We got a little intimate she allowed me a peek inside.
We removed her wheels this afternoon so that we can move her somewhere we can give her some attention.
Maybe soon we can get her looking something like this.
We will have a site where you can keep apprised of progress. I will give you the URL as soon as I have it in place

Excuse my ignorance, but what type of car is she?
jack: 15th Dec 2006 - 19:55 GMT
whatever type of car she is, someone put the steering wheel on the wrong side. good grief, next thing you know, English people will be driving on the wrong side of the road, tsk, tsk.
jack: 15th Dec 2006 - 19:57 GMT
by the way, eastern transvaal is beautiful country and that is a beautiful car.

Catherine 66 Jaguar 3.8s also in some quarters known as the MkII. Manufactured in England
Jack Eastern Transvaal is the previous name for Mpumalanga which is a province In South Africa, Thats at the Southern tip of Africa and borders Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Swaziland. Oh Jack its the americans and the Europeans that drive on the wrong side of the road. If you want to understand intelligence and civilisation, just look which side of the road the great countries drive and also what sports they play.
Theres Rugby which is something like American football just not for pansies. They dont wear protective armour. Theres Cricket which is similar to baseball in that its played with a ball and a bat. Much more civilised though. By the way those countries like South Africa, Britain and Arsetralia even have civilise intelligent people that know which side to drive on.. ;)
Peter I guess you are from somewhere reasonably civilised then?
jack: 16th Dec 2006 - 15:26 GMT
yeah, peter is from brooklyn, like me, and we are uncivilized, according to british standards, because as a nation we had lost that victorian elegence and charm. when we broke away from our mother country, England, we left behind a history of greatness, a history of elegence and gentlemanness (if thats a word) and forged a new nation. and yet we still remained tied together through two world wars, which i believe made us closer. when i was overseas participating in U.N. military menuevers it was the british and americans that got along well, it seemed as if we were cousins in some sort of way. in my squad there was patrick a great british gentleman of irish descent who brought to us tea at 4pm everyday. and there we were, american rangers in battlegear, sitting around sipping tea and we loved it. i participated in manuevers with a british commando squad and they loved and joked around about my brooklyn accent. we had tea every afternoon. today, at 64, i have tea every afternoon. and yes, the jaguar is my favorite car. and i wish i had the extra money to get a jag but i would need a steering wheel on the left side.

I got lucky, she was gifted to me. I saw her in the shed rotting away and in a mournful voice said, what a tragedy seeing such a beautiful lady rotting away. The owner said he was going to restore her but if I wanted to restore her I could have her.
Guy McLaren: 17th Dec 2006 - 08:34 GMT
By South African Standards too but we'll forgive you anyway, It's not your fault you were born on that side of the pond.. ;> Many South africans also joined the last big war, My Grandad being one of them, As for UN manoevres, we were not invited..
Richard: 17th Dec 2006 - 22:08 GMT
Guy - you let your country down. Even more South Africans play football (soccer to Americans), than do rugby and cricket.
Guy McLaren: 18th Dec 2006 - 17:46 GMT
Actually our Guys play soccer, but its not a national histeria like rugby and cricket at least not in my circles. American Football is something different. Besides Bafana Bafana are not real contenders.
