Advertisements on Rietveld Art Acadamy

This building, which forms a new constructed part of the Rietveld Art Acadamy of Amsterdam, suddenly turns out to be packed with advertisements.

I have not found out (did not search long though) why they did this... Could be a statement against street advertisement glutter? Don't know... What do you think?

Cheers,
Robert

i guess the designers' intention could be to make a statement against ads cluttering the public space. most observers, however, probably won't "get it" and it will serve the same purpose as a place like times square.

think of the ramifications of the current state of times square; millions of people from all over the world coming together to have their pictures taken with.....SOME HUGE FUCKING ADDS!!! this weird collective obsession has always creeped me out and i don't think this building will necessarily help cool that down.

I bet it's like the Million Dollar Homepage www.milliondollarhomepage.com/, where someone has sold ad space on this building instead of pixels on a computer!
