Advertisements on Rietveld Art Acadamy
[previous] :: [next]
This building, which forms a new constructed part of the Rietveld Art Acadamy of Amsterdam, suddenly turns out to be packed with advertisements. I have not found out (did not search long though) why they did this... Could be a statement against street advertisement glutter? Don't know... What do you think? colavitos ghost: 1st Dec 2006 - 17:51 GMTi guess the designers' intention could be to make a statement against ads cluttering the public space. most observers, however, probably won't "get it" and it will serve the same purpose as a place like times square. think of the ramifications of the current state of times square; millions of people from all over the world coming together to have their pictures taken with.....SOME HUGE FUCKING ADDS!!! this weird collective obsession has always creeped me out and i don't think this building will necessarily help cool that down. groovehouse: 5th Dec 2006 - 04:00 GMTreminds me of this installation in San Antonio, Tx by Anton Vidokle Corporate Art - blog post by San Antonio Daily Photo A more in-depth article on the artist and this installation.
