Inside the Old Coast Guard Station (Part 3)

At last we wrap up our trip to the coast guard station. In the back storage room there are odd plates strewn about.

If you look closely on this map you can see that there was actually a ferry shuttle from another, larger pier to this building. Presumably this was the closest available parking location for would-be restaurant patrons.

Still to come: Cleveland's Bridges, The Piers in Edgewater Park, the Cleveland Skyline, and Cleveland Graffiti.

gypsy soul: great shots...

these are neat; i hope the building was in better shape when the restaurant was still in business.

do you know how long ago the restaurant went under? judging by the condition of the building it seems like it must have been quite a while ago.

joey: 25th Nov 2006 - 04:10 GMT

looks like you were in peril going in there and getting these shots. derelict buildings are like that. can you include the 'ethnic gardens' in your tour? there better photographed in summertime, of course, when in bloom.

little ukraine: 25th Nov 2006 - 05:32 GMT

i wish i could say we were in danger of getting caught at any moment, but the truth is nowhere near that exciting. in fact, a whole group of teenagers was kicking around the building just before we went in, and this was all happening in broad daylight. a more immediate danger was the possibility of floors or stairwells giving out underneath our feet.
unfortunately, i'm not familiar with the ethnic gardens! if i ever get back to the great city on the lake, i'll make it a point to get there.
c_g: i can't tell you the restaurant's history, but the kid i went out there with probably could. he's sort of full of himself when it comes to cleveland, but he does know a lot about the city. i'll ask him and try to get back to you on this post.

explorer: full of himself?

colavitos ghost: 11th Dec 2006 - 13:47 GMT

joey: a couple friends of mine got busted last week while sneaking around inside the lighthouse.

told them he was only "worried about their safety" and that next time they'd "be in some real trouble."

N122CA - ElliMay

Found this plane last weekend in a partially disassembled state near the Pratt & Whitney hangar at Plattsburgh Airport (formerly Plattsburgh AFB). I could not believe my luck at finding a DC-3 just sitting there, waiting to be photographed. Too...
