I love the look of this building... Very much like an airfoil, or the mast of a sail-boat.

But I don't think I'd much enjoy living in such a skinny appartment.

don't they claim this is the narrowest skyscraper in the world?

ksedge: 1 king west?

jeeff: 22nd Sep 2006 - 00:06 GMT

indeed it is: www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=101423
it got 7th place at the 2005 emporis "best new" skyscraper award: awards.emporis.com/?nav=award2005nominees&lng=3

regarding records: "The new tower, which has increased in width from 10 to nearly 15 metres, breaks no new architectural ground." - Christopher Hume
www.onekingwest.com/condo/saving_grace.htm

i think they may have claimed the record early on, while still planning to build at 10m.

i snuck in to a penthouse condo of that skyscraper when some friends were staying in a hotel room in the building. you can see the window in that photo, at the very top of the curve. it was still under development at the time so the door was unlocked when i went snooping around. it was three floors of luxury, hot tubs, and excess.

Not sure about narrowest, but there is a building in Hong Kong with a smaller aspect ratio (height to width).

Biff: It's already being called the tampon building...

I don't like it myself. A.A. Gill puts the boots to this kind of architecture in this month's Vanity Fair. www.vanityfair.com/commentary/content/articles/060918roco02

as a new yorker, i empathize with some of the points made in that article...
