I was less than half a meter away from him. The neighborhood I was in was really cool, but because of all the metal shavings and peices of random sharp and tiny objects, I tucked my pants into my socks. I just walked past him with my camera at my side and shot about 6 pictures of it. That was the best one and I cropped it. It was a rad neighborhood. full of lathes, grinders, welders and big things cutting small things. Peter: 18th Sep 2006 - 13:55 GMTyeah whats up with hte phone/dending machine? cool shots, man! fish on a string! chiamattt: 18th Sep 2006 - 21:43 GMTthere is a phone vending machine at work! I have only ever seen a couple of them. I think they must have been popular in the days when delivery drivers didn't have handphones to call and find out where a specific place was or where they were to go next. Payphones here are pay as your use. The longer you talk, the more money you drop in. The cans in the vending machine are 50cents to a dollar, but those cups below the can are a gross instant coffee that cost between ten and 30 cents. Taxi driver fuel. Jamie: 3rd Jun 2008 - 12:27 GMTWhat kind of payphones aren't pays-as-you-use? I like the idea of combining a payphone with a vending machine though. I don't remember where but i've seen some free-standing cash machine/payphone combos here in the uk recently. new ones. who uses payphones though? Peter: 3rd Jun 2008 - 12:46 GMTafter almost 130 years of service, ATT announced that it will cease payphone service in the 13 states it covers by the end of 2008... money.cnn.com/2007/12/03/news/companies/att_payphones/index.htm Jamie: 3rd Jun 2008 - 14:35 GMTIt seems inevitable really, which is why I'm surprised by the introduction of the abovepictured booths. I really don't remember the last time i saw someone use a payphone.. and you never see those "British" red phoneboxes anymore, not oustide of tourist hotspots anyway. Where you do see them (usually in rural areas) their usually smashed up and pissed in, and that's exactly where, without mobile coverage in many cases, public payphones are most needed.
