wow... Even the cabs in NYC have the cow-catchers in front of them now.

These are obviously there to protect the car as it hits "things." But, does it also protect the driver from guilt when he/she runs over said things? Most often tend to be pedestrians and cyclists.

Only the police cars where I live (in Toronto) have these things for the inevitable car-wrestling that is required from time to time when you are driving a squad car.
