Vertigo and the Lack of City Lights

- Cameo - Tuesday, September 12th, 2006 : goo

This past august, I had my first opportunity to escape the bright city lights for the first time in ages. These pictures were all taken aboard a 12m sailing boat. We were anchored just off of hope island, which has a small sandy bay perfect for anchorage. It's near the north-east corner of Georgian Bay just north of Cristian Island.

It was absolutely stunning night sky that evening but alas, taking night shots from an anchored boat that size would be absolutely useless. I was limited to hand-holding and no matter how hard I tried, the meteor shower that evening did not turn out.

Very, very cool pics. And you gotta love a good moonrise.

nice, what are you shooting with to get the moon like that?

I use an elderly canon dslr body. That pic was taken with my 70-200 2.8L IS lens.

just the moon pic... the other two were taken with the 16-35 2.8L
