joey: 6th Sep 2006 - 05:34 GMTggp. this is the place on the water and you walk down a flight of stairs to get to it? and there are geese floating by on the water. you won't believe this story. i visited this same place in my childhood. you know, my dad took the family there sometime back in the 60s on a summer vacation. amazing. thanks. GGP: 6th Sep 2006 - 12:43 GMTEG--thanks! :) EvilGentleman: 6th Sep 2006 - 13:41 GMTDammit! I thought from his self-portrait that joey was younger than me, but if he can remember the 60's, then he is older for sure, since I was born in 1969. This can mean only one thing: I look old for my age. Really old. *sobs* :-( joey: 7th Sep 2006 - 02:53 GMTevilg; thanks for making me younger. sorry to say, i can remember almost 1959 - U2. when it meant something else. ggp; sorry to hear that you did not enter the establisment. my memory of the place is vivid. especially those geese, or were they swans? memory can be a funny thing. EvilGentleman: 7th Sep 2006 - 04:47 GMTI guess the powers that be have been kind to you. And I'm not referring to Garry Powers, the U2 pilot. joey: 9th Sep 2006 - 17:44 GMTevilg; so i kept my youthful looks, but my photographic memory has begun to fade. i'll have to ask my brother to be certain- he remembers every little detail - but, i think i remember having spaghetti for dinner.
PAUL CONGILARO: 24th Jan 2009 - 18:49 GMTBEEN 22 YEARS SINCE WAS HERE BEST SCHRIMP SCAMPI ON EAST COAST HOPE MENU HASN'T CHANGED TO MUCH EXPECT TO VISIT IN FEB FOR ICE FEST Dudley Chapman: 7th Sep 2009 - 04:41 GMTYes, I agree with Paul. The Shrimp Scampi was great there. I used to have it with my friend Andy Menard when we worked at the radio station, WNBZ, when it was in the Berkeley Hotel in the center of town. That was about 1972 lakewriter: 30th Jul 2011 - 18:27 GMTUsed to be my favorite of favorites when dating a guy from Paul Smith's College. I moved up to Gabriel's and a group of us would head out on a night on the town. I remember Dew Drop Inn like it was yesterday. In a class of its own. Now I take my kids to Wilmington during the Lacross Trment in Placid. Every time we've passed I've looked for the Dew Drop. We're headed up that way next week. Now I'm taking time out to hunt it down! Date Night: 10th Jan 2012 - 17:40 GMTyes, this was a good place to go in the 70s for Italian food and beer. Maybe it was my favorite date night from Paul Smiths a far cry from the food on campus. Date Night: 10th Jan 2012 - 18:01 GMTJust could not leave without confirming a few things. As a guy that is an elder in this group, I must indicate that it was below the street level and you needed to go down a flight of stairs to get to the main entrance. They had tables above the level of the river any you would watch ducks and other birds float around in the spring, summer, fall. The menu included an incredible deal of italian food but also had an good french onion soup that came with about a 1/4 inch of cheese ontop. If I am not confusing this place with some other, there was a wood burning stove or fireplace in the place that would warm things up when it was subzero outside. You could take a date from college to this place and leave for under 25 dollars , well fed and with a few drinks in you (don't judge- it was a differnt world and we drank and smoked in bars and restaurants back then). Terry T: 23rd May 2013 - 08:07 GMTI was student of Paul Smiths College about 40 years ago. Dew Drop Inn was the best restaurant in town ! Oh my.....
