America's Most Boring Towns: 13
[previous] :: [next]
This article has been viewed 6591 times in the last 3 years Susannah: 29th Aug 2006 - 17:37 GMTScott - quite frankly, I'm worried about you. Enough is enough already - when are you coming home?
GeneralTsao: 8th Sep 2006 - 15:52 GMTNot to dispute that Bazine may be a boring town, but just for the sake of accuracy, the high school building is not used anymore since district consolidation some years back. Also, the empty field you noted was empty probably because it's the Junior High's field next door, and school is not in session in the summertime. Thirdly, the "road" you show in your last pic is actually the High School parking lot. On the left of your photo is a row of stone fence posts which mark the beginning of a little wildlife sanctuary. To the right is the high school building shown in your first pic. susannah: 8th Sep 2006 - 19:51 GMTNot to mention - people just want to stay out of the heat. When I used to have to go to farming communities on business trips I alway thought it was strange that the local diner's hours were 5:00am to 2:00pm, in the farming areas they keep different hours than we do, just like in Europe and South America everything closes in the middle of the day for "siesta". I remember traveling through France if you hit the wrong town on the wrong day everything was closed and there was no one anywhere. GGP: 8th Sep 2006 - 20:26 GMTwhen i was a kid i complained to a friend's father about being bored. he sternly told me, "only boring people are bored." I was embarrassed; his comment changed my life and my attitude toward "boredom" was never the same. (no personal offense meant to scott, just a story that came to mind when i viewed these shots, which have their own non-boring beauty.) susannah: 13th Sep 2006 - 14:35 GMTGGP: If he's trying to point out beauty- he should say so. It seems to me he's just trying to portray the obvious. I'd like to put the challenge to him to take something boring and make it interesting. But he won't take it. He carries his bicycle wheel (see shadow) with him in a town that probably hasn't had a crime in 50 years. Bethany: 12th May 2007 - 02:27 GMTMy family grew up there. I wouldn't have changed a damn thing. It was a small town but we knew everyone. We all still keep in contact with our high school and some our junior high friends. I went to school with almost all the same people from pre-school to my senior year. I couldn't have picked a better place to grow up! greg: 3rd Jul 2007 - 03:33 GMTyour nuts I have been there a few times and love it. I'm from Canada. Also if you knew the town and the pepole you would know how wrong you are. It's a great little town. joey: 29th Dec 2007 - 02:56 GMTscott. there must be 100s of boring towns in america, why stop at 13? please keep adding more. MP: 29th Mar 2008 - 14:27 GMTI moved here from a suburb of a very large city. I love the peace, quiet and the people. The photos, while very well done, don't portray the heart of the town and the people here. It's easy to pass through an area and judge it based on intial appearances but spend some time in them and get to know (as Paul Harvey says) "the rest of the story". Personally, I'd rather have interesting and good hearted people around me than a mall, amusement park, sirens and traffic jams. anon (p49n148.ruraltel.net): 17th May 2008 - 14:09 GMTI own this school , there is oil under it , converted to residential use .its for sale, 0ne million dollars, em joseph.bonelli@us.army.mil anon: 11th Jul 2008 - 16:56 GMTScott, urgent, contact me. I am stuck in Hutchinson, I am from Florida and I believe my life is in danger. I keep reaching out for help but its slow coming. I am disabled, use a wheelchair/scooter to go out and a service dog. I can't get a good wheel chair ramp. my landlord won't supply screens or an exit from the back of my house. I have been attacked by the police over my dog that my adopted (almost, I canceled the adoption just in time)daughter told the police was hers, the dog now sits in Animal control due to the police interference in COMING IN MY HOME AND TAKING HER OUT, ILLEGAL interference. i CALLED THE NEWSPAPER AND THEY WOULDN'T RUN THE STORY. I hired an attorney who also wouldn't take the case (two separate cases against the police here.) I worked in law enforcement in Fl and the police here told me they must be stupid down there. Please help me. Please.. I need out of here. my email is inyourwildestdreams_84@yahoo.com and can you please delete this? Everyone knows everyone in this town. I don't want any one to know I am reaching out for help except those I have contacted for now. bobcatbasketball: 28th Nov 2008 - 20:26 GMTthis is the coolest town to grow up in...granted there is nothin to do but like people have said before but we make this place fun...this town is defently not boring...theres oil under the old high school?....hard to belive but ok....the feild used to be the junior high feild but we no longer have jr.high football because we only have like 3 people go out....this town may be small but its defenently NOT boring anon (p164n136.167.65.ruraltel.net): 14th Aug 2009 - 19:51 GMTWhat an ass........... where is this person from??? Probably lives under the feces of a cow in the pasture right south of Bazine! Ruby Henry now Adams : 23rd Aug 2009 - 04:03 GMTI was born in Bazine Kansas.I loved the little town. I had to move when I was 9 because my Dad found a job in New Mexico. It was depression times in the 30's. I now live in West Richland, Washington. It is a beautiful town. I hope to go back to Bazine one day with my husband to see the changes in person. Back then we made our own fun and it was not boring. Jennifer: 11th Sep 2009 - 01:45 GMTUgh, people like you suck. As a matter of fact I go to Jr. High in Bazine. It's a really great town. The reason there is only two cars on the "road" by the high school is that the road is actually a parking lot for the family that lives there. (The bonelli family) Jennifer: 11th Sep 2009 - 02:00 GMToh yeah, I want you to stand outside in 105 degrees that why there is no one outside dork stormster: 14th Oct 2009 - 23:53 GMTI am moving to Bazine in two weeks and I cant wait. Finally a place where I will feel safe and enjoy good people and good times. I also agree with the gentleman that said "only boring people are bored!" My charming brick house on lawrence road will be a sight for sore eyes! What stupid people you all are bagging on this great little town. Stop to smell the flowers, why dont you??? I am so glad folks like you dont live in Bazine, you'll polute it! Go live in the overcrowded crime ridden cities where you belong... John Wasinger: 16th Oct 2009 - 03:21 GMTForget anything this writer had to say in his critcism of Bazine! I taught high school here for one semester in '64. It was first my teaching assignment, and the students "Kids" were great. The community was very supportive of education. I have a soft spot in my heart for this experience and the students in my classes. John Wasinger Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
