Diss Me

An example of a sign that can easily be misread. This is in Flint, MI. This article has been viewed 20630 times in the last 7 years joey: 27th Aug 2006 - 21:54 GMTflint, michigan was the city featured in michael moore's first movie, roger and me. it looked grim then . . .
Cosmo: 28th Aug 2006 - 00:50 GMTYeah, Flint was dealt a terrible blow by the forces Moore relates in his movie. As with most towns around here, the only cure is to break free of the automotive addiction. Michigan is trying to join the modern age, but unfortunately if new technology and knowledge isn't applicable to automotive design we just don't seem to get it. :-/
bluenote : 17th Dec 2007 - 10:32 GMTi lived in flint for 24 years,, its now the end of 2007 and life is lookin grimer.. you read the head lines.. James: 11th Feb 2008 - 09:42 GMTTypical BS about Flint. It may not be the greatest but people make it seem worse than it is. The photo above is in one of the "Bad" areas of the city. That is on Clio Rd. Pretty sad one pic like above stereotypes an Entire City. Rapheal Robinson: 13th Apr 2008 - 02:36 GMTI love Flint,From the Mansions to the abandon houses.to the corupt cops to the Drug dealers.I was born in the 70's.I still can remember a time when it really was a nice place. It was dead long before GM left...How about Regan-nomics and Crack. Gabi: 9th Aug 2008 - 05:17 GMT- Anyway you slice it - it's still a shithole. Thirty + years in that pit was enough. Jonny Baby: 19th Dec 2009 - 02:59 GMTI'll start off by saying I am a licensed Cosmetologist & studied in Ann Arbor Michigan & now am a stylist for television such as the NBC's today show and for the "Growing up Gotti" family and good friends with them. If I hadn't left Flint when I was 18 years old and studied in ann arbor I would be working at "Dis's Me" most likely. Its pretty bad when you work in an area where there are multi-million dollar real estates around you and they're inhabitants ask you where your from and you tell them your from a nicer area of the state of michigan such as ann arbor or grose pointe or even Troy or Ferndale perhaps but I really hope that it turns around I feel that they are trying to re-invent themselves as a college town I dont know if it will work for them Not many New Yorkers would pack theyre children off to go to college in Flint, but would to Ann Arbor in a heartbeat. I haven't been back in almost a year. It was really embarassing bringing my fiance there. I think he was really shocked when he seen signs on Flint's East Side that said "No Prostitution Zone" & "No Hoe'N" on the streets where my friends lived when I was in High school. The North side just isn't bad its stretched all over. The whole place is fucked. If you can get out, I'd encourage you to. For the most part those who don't have a dream or dont dream big wont be big. Someone once told me at a party that i'd never be shit & would be back next week & tried ashing cigarettes in my hair. He's still Low Budget White Trailor Trash performing as a female impersonator at Flint's hottest drag club "The Triangle". Great for him because I have made it 2 years in NYC & make more money than his faggoty "performances" do. Point of it all is if your gonna get out do it while your young & dont fckn look back at the sess pool of shit you've left behind. Jonny Baby CEFman: 17th Apr 2010 - 22:25 GMTMaybe you should consider that when the "terrible forces" that Moore talks about, like GM, were in Flint it was a growing city, unemployment was low, and people were flocking here. z r: 2nd Jun 2010 - 14:48 GMTi lived nearby that for a short time....definately not the worst area of flint sadly Just Sayin': 12th Aug 2010 - 14:12 GMTI travel to Flint quite often from a city that is similar. It is promoting : How will it change? They want the young people to come back to make it better. Of all the things that are corrupt, run down, and, bad, why not get involved and change it. Flint needs new ideas, philosophy, and excitement. U of M Flint is one of the top schools for medicine (health careers) due to the teaching hospitals and engineering because of the factories. It is easier to get into and cheaper and close to Ann Arbor. Housing is affordable. They have charter schools in the public school system. Many parts of the city are horrible, but if the residents take a stand and have zero tolerance it can bounce back. A city is only as good as it's residents. Good luck to all to who found careers and success elsewhere, but you did come out of Flint so there was a foundation somewhere. I hope Flint can turn around, but it takes dedication by all to make changes; it starts with the common person and the lawmakers. I love Tim Hortons and Koegel's!
Not Important: 26th Oct 2011 - 22:17 GMTJohnny Baby: When is the last time you have been to Flint? In that case when is the last time any of you media brainwashed people have been there? Ever since Dayne Walling was elected he has turned the city around a whole lot. There are twice as many police force and violent crime is down 39% since 2009, when Walling was elected. Now im not saying its paradise but its most likely a hell of alot better than the last time you went there so if i were you guys i would shut up anon (24.sub-70-199-195.myvzw.com): 23rd Nov 2012 - 21:36 GMTShaking my head. Anyone who does NOT SEE it's just ghetto...have blinders on....in denial. Its a hell hole. The world is a big beautiful place outside people . LOL. ..outdid of that dirty bubble. fortydogg: 18th Apr 2013 - 17:48 GMTproud 2 rep fli city for life, if yall love hip hop/r&b Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
