I'm surprised I have found no photos of Black Rock City on this site yet, am I really the first to think of this? Black Rock City is a temporary city, appearing from nothing on this desolate dry lake bed and lasting only a week, leaving the untouched lake bed until it reappears again the next year. 40,000 people celebrating life and art in the festival they call Burning Man, one helluva city noise! The blue head pictured here, an artwork called The Dreamer, is hollow. I sat inside it with twenty other people to learn Tuvan throat singing. (You can see the city itself, stretched out behind the blue head).

you know, it really *is* a shame that this is the only post from black rock city. i have some hard-copy photos from my trip there in 2001, perhaps ill fire up the scanner...
