Ornamented Edifices Time Capsule

For a long time I've thought of touring this city and photographing all the & specifically the details architects & artisans used to incorporate into them. Generic condos are springing up everywhere here, I wouldn't mind but they really are very ugly. They exemplify a total lack of imagination but then again I guess stacks of rat cages don't have to be fancy...Given also that apparently 80% of Seattle's are not earthquake-proof, I fear for the old buildings, I fear the disappearance of character. Snapshots can at least save them to a slight degree.

So I haven't yet fully embarked on this project, but here are a few to start. I'll probably be adding to these in the form of comments in the future.

Darn, you beat me to it. I've had a collection of cornice pictures that I have been cultivating, but I could never figure out how to tie them together effectively.

aer suzuki: 12th Aug 2006 - 12:37 GMT

hell, post them. i don't think there's a deep concern here to tie things together, is there? besides, if they're all cornices or similar ornamental building parts you have your theme right there...

EvilGentleman: 12th Aug 2006 - 20:37 GMT

True enough. The problem is, I have too many, and from previous expreience, I have learned that a flood of similar posts is not always the greatest, unless I do a very good job of filtering. I probably will gat a post or two out on the subject eventually, but it may take a while before I figure out what goes where.

A few more.
