where i walked today
and the faces i don't know
i saw a woman today who was all women and with her walked every man. they didn't know each other but they were married. the gum on the sidewalk was warm from the sun spring is glowing into the city, she stepped in the gum chewed it with her foot and noticed it less than the man that she wasn't walking with. i looked after them, i cared for them as they grew old together i watched them and loved them with my eyes. they fell asleep together at an intersection, too old to move, and i watched them sleep.
