The Fredericton walking bridge in January 2006, one very foggy Saturday morning. The weather (very mild that morning) insisted that I get out of the house and walk around. Chris Erb: 28th Jul 2006 - 02:43 GMTThis walking bridge claims to be the longest pedestrian-only bridge in the world. I'm skeptical however as there seems to be a culture of exaggeration around here when it comes to such things. My hometown of Sussex (population 5 000) claims to be home to both the ice cream cone and the eraser on the top of a pencil. george: 28th Jul 2006 - 03:25 GMTInvention: ice cream cone in 1904 - st. louis world's fair Definition: noun / edible cone shaped container for ice cream Patent: 1,342,045 issued June 1, 1920 Chris Erb: 28th Jul 2006 - 03:50 GMTSussex folk lore says that the ice cream cone was invented a few months before the St. louis World's Fair. Apparently a baker made a bad batch of dough that was baking very hard and crusty but didn't want to throw it away. The ice cream man was either in a store near him or had a cart. The baker thought he might be able to make the dough into a cone inwhich to place ice cream and thus, the ice cream cone was born. The bastards in St. Louis just patented first. Or so I was told to believe.
