the summer sun breaks through the grape vines and cools the walkway past the graves of the old friors. there are over 6000 indians burried in this grotto.

the olive tree which is over 300 years old. the olives were picked and olive oil was made in the giant vats built in the ground. i'll show you the vats and the refinery in my next posting.

our Lady of Guadalupe, very special to the native indians.

the old canon, brought over from spain. it is a 4 pounder, an intriguing old Frijoleta (bean shooter). it was buried and forgotten at the end of the mexican war in 1847. they found it in a dry water bed after the flood of 1914. i picked up this information at the mission and i hope you all enjoy it a little.
