A few snaps from a walk down a disused railway at Keswick in the Lake District, UK.
It's been turned into a pleasant footpath, with numerous small bridges over the River Greta. It was used to transport coke (not the drinking stuff) and also bobbins for the cotton industry.

After reaching Keswick itself, a small walk (via Cumbrian sausage and mash and a pint of Snecklifter in one of the numerous pubs) takes you to Derwent Water:
If I'd been feeling braver I'd have just climbed over this gate and trudged through the fields down to town. I'm more of a stroller:

It was a bright February day and, amid the scenery, it was good to be reminded that industrial heritage doesn't belong solely to the cities.

A favourite walk, now that I'm knocking on a bit. Flat and scenic, capped by a meal at the Horse & Farrier in Threlkeld, and the bus back to Keswick. Dreamland!
