4th Ward - Freedmans Town - Houston, Texas This article has been viewed 4078 times in the last 3 years Rev. Leon: 1st Feb 2008 - 20:07 GMTToo bad it can't be a church again. That's a beautiful structure. Earl Littman: 8th Apr 2008 - 19:59 GMTWhat is being done with this structure? Who owns it and who is responsible for preserving it from further destruction? When was the fire and did anyone ever learn the cause? earl@popbroadcasting.com Ferrari Glenn: 7th Dec 2008 - 18:38 GMTI used to live right behind that church and attended it when Rev. Robert O. Robertson was the pastor. Had to be like 1992. Cheryl G. Robertson: 22nd Jul 2009 - 20:34 GMTThank you for your prayers and concern. Wheels are in motion to keep the history of the church and building alive. Even though the congregation is no longer worshipping @ the physical location on Andrews, The Spirit of Bethel is still alive in the body (membership). The Historical Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Christ services are now being held @ the following location: 4430 N Shepherd Dr - Houston, TX 77018 - Robert O. Robertson, Jr., Pastor. If you were once a member and would like restore your membership, or if you are not a member and would like to become a member, please come by and visit with us. Sunday School - 9:30 AM & Sunday Worship Service - 11:00AM. May God Bless You and Keep You is My Prayer. PS Ferrari we would love to have you join us again. James: 17th Oct 2009 - 21:40 GMTThis unfortunately is just another casualty in the disappearing architectural history of Houston. Instead of reusing buildings and transforming them, Houston has always just demolished them and built another newer building on top of it. The case is different with this church but the idea still remains the same. Enjoy the last remaining historical buildings while you still can, they won't be there one day....
