Did you know that goslings can survive a fall of around seven stories? I found out one day when we were trying to remove goslings from the roof and take them to the park (a friend volunteers with Alberta wildlife or something to that effect and asked us to help). My girlfriend followed a couple of goslings around a corner and watched 3 or 4 drop from the edge of the building. She was pretty pissed that our friend didn't tell us they could survive beforehand. A lady across the street was screaming at us from her balcony. Good times... good times.

When I lived in Coral Harbour, Nunavut, we used to be overrun every summer with geese. After laying their eggs, geese shed their flight feathers, so they are flightless for two months or so, until the new generation learns to fly. During this time, they can gather into flocks of a thousand or so birds, all running together. If you have ever seen documentaries about army ants marching, that leave destruction in their wake, you get the picture. But the tundra is amazingly well-fertilized afterwards...

They're lucky they didn't get busted for jay-walking.
.....jay-walking! Geddit?

i got it! do you realize how many families can be fed by just one bird? think about it, one bird for 5 families, 100 birds for 500 families, so on and so forth, we can charge $20 per bird and citynoise will have all the money they can spend for a lifetime, or am i just blowing smoke here. what if families dont like duck, ok forgetaboutit.

SingleGuy: Hey aren't they both male? :)

ew, i heard that canada goose tastes terrible (like pigeons) because they eat lots of garbage. true? i guess that wouldn't apply to rural geese, but these ones look like true city slickers.

elaine: 22nd Jun 2006 - 20:50 GMT

shame. there are loads here, and they are not indigenous, so i had thought a nice christmastime cull with goose for dinner could be a good thing, but if they are not tasty the cunning plan is moot.

Biff: They taste great, sometimes like pizza though...

GGP: oy!!

joey: another method to spread the bird flu
