My girlfriend is good friends with someone from Cleethorpes but he generally doesn't have much good to say about the place.
Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 20th Jun 2006 - 01:06 GMTLooks a bit like Hastings, Sussex. But with less witches. And more sandy beaches. Raw sewage is about the same.
elaine: 20th Jun 2006 - 05:30 GMTi love seaside. obviously, i have my preferences, but really any seaside rocks. i like the tacky stuff, i like beach, and i like sea. seasideguys: 27th Dec 2006 - 15:58 GMTwe moved to cleethorpes a year ago, great place.fantastic dog walking beach, loads to do.better family place, not bombarded with amusement acardes and the like. Linda James: 31st Dec 2006 - 22:45 GMTLove the photos. Left 'home' to live in London 25 years ago but visit regularly. You captured it - warts and all. Fantastic!
jen: 18th May 2007 - 16:11 GMTmoved to wales almost 3 years ago, originally from cleethorpes and i miss it so much! i didnt realise how much i loved it till i moved away. kathy archbold: 19th May 2007 - 16:41 GMTyou may laugh but one of the things I missed when I've lived elsewhere was the brit seaside resort...there really isn't anything else like it! Hannah: 21st Apr 2008 - 10:39 GMTCleethorpes is great :) I live here, and I've been to the beach and it's an awesome view! Andrew Smith: 21st Apr 2008 - 13:41 GMTNice photo's Jamie, On the subject of the Great British Seaside, Hunstanton in Norfolk has most of the things you would expect. A fairground and promenade
A Pitch and Putt course
and beach huts
It did have a pier too but that was destroyed by a storm in the 1970's. The nearest is now down the coast at Cromer where you can get a spot of end-of-pier theatre.
Jamie: 7th Jan 2009 - 23:36 GMTI've only just stumbled across these Hunstanton photos. They're deserving of their own article. Growing up in Peterborough, Hunstanton is where we used to go when I was a kid. Thanks.
