this past weekend i was in montreal for 2006. saturday was rainy, but it was my only opportunity to climb up . despite the rain i quite enjoyed myself.

the cross at the top, enveloped in the low clouds.

image 12464
there was almost no-one around.

image 12466
i hiked along the smaller paths, up the rocky slope.

here's some skyline porn taken the next evening. the single white light on the hill toward the right side is the cross pictured in photo #1.

i'm more interested in the sky above the buildings. nice clouds of reflected city light with outerspace blues behind. i love it when that happens here in oakland. except here it's usually the city lights reflecting off the clouds of fog.

You twit. You should have e-mailed me. I could have shown you around some. Still, nice pics, jeff. Too bad we were not able to meet up.

Lovely pictures. When I viewed your article, the first picture showed only about 2/3rd of the top part. I had to scroll down to see the whole photo. I have to tell you that I really liked the “cropped” version, only the top of the cross with the crowns of the trees. The base of the cross is irrelevant and takes away the mystery, in my opinion.

Yikes, I typed jeeff's name so fast, I lost an 'e'. Sorry about that.

jack: gabi is correct, nice pic's jeef.

jeeff: 6th Jun 2006 - 15:37 GMT

i took several pics that included just the cross and the crown of trees, but i like the full version better. for me the tones and composition of the bottom part add depth, atmosphere, and scale to the photo. anyway i'm glad you liked them, and to each his/her own.

joey - indeed, it was a really nice sunset.

eg - thanks for the offer. while in town for mutek i had time for nothing but mutek. they really keep you hopping. in fact the hike over mont royal was on the way to a venue, otherwise i wouldn't've had time.

Ah well, c'est la vie, oui?

One of these days, we should put together a citynoise road trip, where some of us will go on tour and see what happens. I think it would be interesting to contrast pictures of, say, downtown Buffalo, as taken by jeeff, Peter, jack, hool, Catherine Penfold-Waxman, sine, myself, my wife, Chris Erb, Elicar, Biff, etc. All the different styles would provide quite a comprehensive view.

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: I'm in.

Chris Erb: Haha, that would be a lot of fun!
