Stop Signs

As I was walking to work this morning (I just started a new job at the campus radio station!) I noticed a sticker underneath the word "stop". It simply said "war".

"Stop war". Seems like a good idea to me. I snapped a picture and went on my way.

On my way back, I was walking down the same street but the other way to get home. I glance behind me and see another stop sign with a sticker beneath it.

I couldn't be bothered to read it (I'm a busy man!) and assumed it said "war" as well. There was also a "Drunken Penguin" sticker beside it that wasn't there before. Now, Drunken Penguin is something that has been popping up all over the city. I don't know who is responsible for him but I have a feeling he lives on or near my street as they seem to appear in greatest concentration near my house. Drunken Penguin doesn't just pop up in stickers, I have seen the image and signature in a guest book at a cafe and he has even called in to request a song on campus radio shows. Because these both appeared on the same day, I am led to assume that Drunken Penguin is responsible for the other stickers and is therefore against war and eating meat.

This leads us to another question. What does a penguin eat if he doesn't eat meat? There seems to be little vegetation in Antartica so I'm sure a vegetarian's diet would be greatly limited.

I didn't realize that the second sticker said something else until I was resizing the picture to post here. This realization changed the nature of this post dramatically.

Seems like such an obvious idea--I'm surprised more people haven't taken advantage of the "stop xxx" idea. Or maybe people have, and I just haven't seen it. Here's one more, at least, in downtown Honolulu:

I found another one about 5 blocks from my house. I'm assuming it's by the same person as it's the same design (the lighting makes it look gray).

Obviously this person is a big movie buff. I can't imagine someone who isn't hate the MPAA so much as to stick their hatred of it on a stop sign.

Hey that Drunken Penguin is a couple of my friends, and no they are not responsible for the 'eating meat' stickers. They are solely interested in advertising Drunken Penguin Entertainment. See www.drunkduck.com/Evil_Dawn

What I find remarkable is that the Stop the MPAA sticker is in Canada, where the MPAA has no actual authority.

It is healthy, I shall come on your site more often, thank.

I love penguins and penguins need to eat meat to survive
because like you said before there is little vegetation
in the Artic, so they would be taking some other animals
food, some animals and humans need meat to survive, every-
one has to be eaten or has to die at some point..it's the
circle or life!!!
