This article has been viewed 2194 times in the last 2 years GGP: 11th May 2006 - 02:08 GMTmy favorite architectural structure, bar none. i used to spend my summers living in a tipi in vermont. an elegant, portable home. the top flaps can be opened to allow smoke from the firepit to leave, or to cool the tipi on warm nights (and to view the night sky). the sides can be rolled up to ventilate the space, day or night. the poles, if nice and smooth, carry raindrops from the top of the pole to the bottom, without dripping mid-way down the pole onto the firepit or the tipi inhabitants. a considerable amount of space is provided inside, and the circle lends itself to conversation and comraderie. it's a most efficient, flexible, and handsome structure--evocative of a past/culture/way of life we've denigrated, to the detriment of all concerned. Biff: 11th May 2006 - 22:16 GMTThis could be the start of a land claim, but I forget or never knew what became of the California first peoples.
