i remember going to those piers as a kid for the fourth of july with my family.we moved one year before those piers really collapsed.seeing those pictures reminds me of good times.

at barnes and noble there is a book on old new york that has a picture of the railyards in 1930 ,s that will show the way it looked back then I dont know the name of the book but I remember seeing the picture

We came into New York in 1956 on the SS President Monroe, which was sailing from Italy (Leghorn, I think) -- arrived around the end of June (I was 9 years old). What pier would that have been?
