St. Patricks Parade 2006

This is my first submission, it's nothing great, but just waiting for warmer weather to come to really hit the streets. Here are a few pictures from today's St. Patrick's day parade in downtown Springfield. It was supposed to be held last weekend but was delayed due to the twisters that ripped through town on March 12th. It seemed a lot smaller this year too, there were only a few marching bands and I saw no pipe and drum band, my favorite reason for going. Unfortunately a lot of floats and marchers are for politicians which really doesn't add any flavor to the parade, one of things I hate about living in a political city... The upside was that it was cloudy, chilly and windy just like years passed. The turnout was actually pretty good too, it's just kind of thin in the middle of this intersection. All pictures were taken from 5th & Washington looking east.

Luckily, the parade started late as usual, I rode my bike and was running late myself. Pulled up and got my camera out as Engine 10 was going by, so I knew this was the beginning.

The old capitol rises above the Springfield High School Senators marching band. I think they were the only Springfield public school band in the parade this year.
