This article has been viewed 3001 times in the last 3 years Peter: 14th Mar 2006 - 15:43 GMTnice! ugly, "modern" cement buildings... this one looks frighteningly similar to the building my office is in. elaine: 14th Mar 2006 - 15:48 GMTi feel sorry for students from abroad who think they are going somewhere glamourous and intellectual... jack: 14th Mar 2006 - 16:37 GMTdo not judge a book by its color. or looks.. london is a mag of a town, that the history of it staggers my imagination. i compare it to manhattan or chicago. london has stories i've read that goes back to the middle ages. grange: 15th Mar 2006 - 16:04 GMTI agree Jack , too bad someone puts up ugly box's, call them artfully designed , next to some really nice historicaly splended building though .Especialy in historic area's Maybe HRH Charles has a pretty good point about that . jack: 15th Mar 2006 - 21:45 GMTi'd like to see pics of cheapside and camden town, like in the song. an impossible child: 16th Mar 2006 - 12:55 GMThow do you guys (londoners mainly) feel about that abomination in westbourne park? (the highly acclaimed trellick tower, 'architectural masterpiece'?) ive so had issues with it from day one of seeing it. makes me want to dynamite things...! :P no matter how many architects they put on tv to tell us what an amazing building it is. its not. its really ugly. elaine: 16th Mar 2006 - 14:26 GMTweeeel you know, i like a bit of modern, but i think it's interesting that trellick is seen as being the last word in glamourous living while it's identical twin in poplar is portrayed in tv etc as being a shithole. you decide! jez: 18th Jan 2007 - 15:57 GMTNever been a big fan of the trellick, didn't even know it had a name, spent my early years going past it on the train between Slough and Paddington. Even as a 7 year old I thought it vile. It could be cool looking with LOTS of hard cash and some frosted glass, a bit of rouge maybe. Who knows, the 60's and 70's were not a good time for a lot of archetecture. Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
