Hornet's Nest
[previous] :: [next]My friend Jeff cut this hornet's nest off of a tree in his yard last year. He has kept it a conversation piece. Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.

GGP: 24th Feb 2006 - 13:57 GMTdid your friend wait until first frost to cut it down? how did he know when it was safe to do so? GGP: 24th Feb 2006 - 15:51 GMTand believe it or not, I once saw one of these going for more than $100 in a hip little shop in SoHo... jack: 24th Feb 2006 - 17:18 GMTbizz, bizz, bizz, oh i'm just buzzing around here and i'm finished with the flowers and i have enough honey now so i can go back to my hive and hang out with the guys, bizz, bizz, wait a second, the hive was here, but now its gone, where is it? where is my home? who is that guy down there taking a picture of my hive/ i'll get him, bizzzzzzzzzzzzz. EvilGentleman: 24th Feb 2006 - 19:10 GMT$100 bucks for a giant wad of bug spit? That's friggin crazy, man! jack: 24th Feb 2006 - 20:04 GMTactually i think the pic's are very good. no one i know would go near those things. your lucky that it was abandoned and no new bees in there bzzzzzzzzz....... EvilGentleman: 25th Feb 2006 - 10:07 GMTI just realized the full meaning of the "actually" at the front of jack's last response. No worries, jack, I figured out very quickly that you are a decent gentleman-type, so I knew that you were not criticizing. I was merely making a play on words. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding, and thank you for your wit and wisdom, coupled with your occasional forays into "outside the box" thought. You help to keep things light around here, as far as I can see. jack: 27th Feb 2006 - 15:47 GMTha ha thx, i guess i've seen too much anger and violence in my day's in brooklyn and to escape the memories i turn to laughter. life is short. we don't pay attention to it when were younger and healthier and we are working, earning money and positions and paying bills and raising a family or starting or just being there, doing our thing and slowly, very slowly, without notice or sound, time passes, each second dissapearing as we think, write, read, breathe. the seconds compress into minutes and then hours. then a day is finished and we start another. so look at people around you, remember their faces, their voices, their hair and skin. their hands and eyes. soon they won't be with you and like i always tell my children, 'things change'. Heath: 5th Feb 2007 - 14:18 GMTI couldn't agree more with Jack's statement. Life does go by fast. I'm just learning to appreciate the finer things in life. EvilGentleman: 10th May 2007 - 00:04 GMTMy 'hood in Kahnawake, where the hornet's nest came from. Jeff's house is in the photo, but in the interests of his privacy, I will not specify which one.
