jack: 16th Feb 2006 - 20:29 GMTthat would make an interesting faucet in someones kitchen. i wonder if my wife would'nt mind having that there on the sink staring her in the face everytime she goes for a drink of water. probably she will kill me and place it on my tombstone. by the way, what does it exactly mean, 'tombstone'. a tomb is an enclosure where you bury people and a stone is a stone. so who put the two together to mean a marble grave marker. and why 'marble', why not steel or iron. and i think everyone should have there images on the stone, this way we can see who it is that is lying down there or in there.
EvilGentleman: 19th Feb 2006 - 09:01 GMTI dunno... If I caught one of these things, I think I would definitely never fish again! This out-uglies the ugly fish, for sure. Jamie: 4th Jul 2008 - 15:53 GMTI don't know if it out-uglies the ugly fish. Here are the two side by side for comparison:
Franny Wentzel: 20th Sep 2009 - 00:07 GMTAt one time a 'tombstone' meant the stone lid of a stone coffin and 'gravestone' meant the marker of a grave. Over the years the terms became more or less interchangable with 'headstone'. As for the use of marble or other stones vs iron it's likely that stone is more survivable and less tempting than iron for being reappropriated by some future generation. Metal has been a relatively scarce commodity over the centuries and even monuments like the Collosseum have had their metal bits removed. That and iron rusts.
