Red Hook, more or less, as seen from the sea. These photos are actually the work of GGP, whose camery battery had gone dead at an inopportune moment.

Nice castle, no? This building, or one like it, is soon to be turned into a Fairway gourmet supermarket--which is definitely part of a move toward gentrification, although unlike Whole Foods, say, I don't think Fairway draws exclusively on the gentrified crowd.

seems a shame - development will surely kill it's bleak mojo - but we can't all be lovers of moody empty buildings i suppose...

i really like the way the horizontals all kind of echo each other in photo #2.

brooklyn navy yards, i set sail for europe on dec 18th on a ship with 900 other soldiers. they all got sea sick. i did not. but i was on the bottom hammock with four other guys above me all throwing up, so i grabbed the top guy and pulled him out of the cot and placed him in mine and i climbed up on top and opened my shaving kit, (called a ditty bag), and poured out my old spice and kept it on my face all night. the north atlantic in winter got rough and then we hit a warm spell and sun bathe on deck sans shirts.
