Ice Cream Toilet

This is a shot taken on New Years day in in , across the street from the old . The is in the background. The building was the entrance to the old underground that used to be in major Montreal for many years until the 1970s or early 1980s, when they were finally closed for good due to criminal activity in the .

It is now an during the warmer months, and an oasis of cool to escape the oppressive heat and humidity of summer.

I have always found the of these toilets to be charming, despite their original purpose.

i descended upon montreal for new years eve in 2002. it's a shame i can't remember more.

i agree, charming architecture. if it was built today it'd be garish plastic and covered in ads (at least around here it would).

The entrance to the Atwater metro station is at the west end of the park. The light green roof of the building in the picture above is just barely visible among the trees about 30 or 40 feet SE of the metro building.
