Fire!
[previous] :: [next]
Spotted the FDNY responding to a call on Grand Avenue in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn... there seemed to be a small kitchen fire in the Grand Ave. Restaurant, which they tended to quickly. They arrived, took care of the fire, and left within the time it took me to walk own the block and snap these photos... This article has been viewed 3326 times in the last 3 years
jack: 10th Jan 2006 - 15:59 GMTnice photos peter, the building down the block that looks like the top of a castle, what is it? and those buildings are now around 100 years old. when you see a building with ornamental over hangs on the roofing it usually was done in the early 1900's. when i was a kid those buildings were relatively new at 50 years old but now in 2006 they are reaching their centennial. Peter: 10th Jan 2006 - 16:04 GMTjack: at first, i thought you were referring to the armory, but then i realized that its further up atlantic, and though visible from where i took these photos, it isnt in any of the shots. im not sure what that building is... i think it might be the (greek orthodox?) church down near washington and dean. yeah, many of those buildings bear dates from the late 1890s in their ornamental moulding... i know the building i live in was built in 1905, the one across the street 1896, and the local police precinct even earlier than that! jack: 11th Jan 2006 - 18:21 GMTthe first photo says, "how many firemen can you get into a fire truck?" the answer is, "if the fire is near you 100 firemen".
