Sno Walk
[previous] :: [next]Upstate 2 weeks ago, during a walk in a light snow, found these tracks. Possibly turkey. Mammal tracks. Possibly mink. A neighbor's antique. Close-up on label and lichen. This article has been viewed 6207 times in the last 7 years
Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 9th Jan 2006 - 21:02 GMTSnowy lichen is lovely. Course, I like the turkey tracks. GGP: 9th Jan 2006 - 21:40 GMTI love lichen--glad you enjoyed and yeah, the turkey tracks were for you, Catherine! :) Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 9th Jan 2006 - 21:50 GMTThanks! I shall treasure them. GGP: 9th Jan 2006 - 21:53 GMTyes, dragging is what causes that mark. it is possible that it's something else--a pheasant, perhaps, or a grouse. I'm trying to learn tracking from books, but in real life the tracks are usually slightly different from what the pictures show...reinforcing my theory about things in nature being more difficult to ID when they don't move (i.e. rocks and tracks harder than birds, etc.).
