Night Walking

i was just walking around the block with my flatmate, james, sort of jogging around the block as he smoked and ranted about the weather, new york politics, whatever...

we passed the catholic church on the south part of our lap, west on w. 107th street; some local woman looking a little mellowed out, sitting on the steps of the church's little chapel, chilling on a hot night in spanish harlem.

she bummed a smoke from james, which he handed over gladly. he offered her a light and she said "not yet; i aint gonna fuckin smoke in front of the church!".

puzzled, james said "huh?", to which she stoically replied, "cause i got fucking respect for that shit...", with a serious grimace.

and that was the first public post to it. i had been using it as a personal blog for a while before that, but changed it up in 2002 into a very primordial version of what appears here now... the effort of many!
