OK, after Sine's post, Prescriptions, it seems appropriate to post some Rx's of my own. This is from an institution, Lascoff .

It's a classic apothecary, offering many cures, tinctures, and "analyses" in its day.

I love this mortar and pestle detail.

The ivy says it all...

Anyone read Latin? This phrase presumably attests to the proprietor's, well, propriety.

The large front s display wonderful keepsakes from the past, including many old s.

And the building itself in various incarnations over the years. How's that for "meta"?

These are wonderful. Thanks for the tour. I fancy some biologicals now.

in hoc signo confidas: upon this signal confide (you can trust us?)

GGP: 30th Nov 2005 - 03:12 GMT

i know. biologicals! wowza!
I like the idea of confiding to a goldleaf lioness.

adam: excelllentttt

Laura : 30th Nov 2005 - 04:55 GMT

I walk by this building every Sunday. I always wanted to take pictures of it! Thanks!

elaine: 30th Nov 2005 - 07:53 GMT

if you confide in lions it's best to tickle them as well, or they might think you are lunch(ette) and forget themselves

Peter: 30th Nov 2005 - 14:48 GMT

awesome!!! this is such a comprehensive series of photos, too. thanks for posting this landmark. i used to work near there, and walked past it a hundred times but never took any photos. top notch.

jack: 1st Dec 2005 - 16:40 GMT

catherine i am impressed, you know your latin. probably 4 yrs at a high school. where is this place, could it be on third ave. or there about.

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 1st Dec 2005 - 17:03 GMT

I know where to get Latin translated on the web.
(Although I did learn Latin at school for a year. It was the most baffling and excruciating class that I took, closely followed by German and French. I sincerely think that we should all speak more than one language, but I am a retard at learning them.)

Jamie: i speak english and french. both very poorly.

Peter: 1st Dec 2005 - 17:57 GMT

heh. i took EIGHT YEARS of latin in school. that is something i rarely admit, but in this venue, i feel like less of a dork ;)

ian: 2nd Dec 2005 - 08:28 GMT

Peter, I also took 4 years of latin in grade school. What do I remember? Nothing. Except: Vir Obesus Sole Ambulat. My motto.

elaine: puella amat puer - i think?

elaine: anyway peter, what is that? fat men walk alone?

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 2nd Dec 2005 - 14:26 GMT

And as long as we don't quite remember it, it's not a dead language yet.

elaine: 2nd Dec 2005 - 15:53 GMT

Woah jamie! i didn't know you could talk! ahahahahahahahahhaha ::bonk::
(me falling off my chair with the sheer volume of my wit)

jack: 2nd Dec 2005 - 16:28 GMT

hahahahaha you all are very intelligent and humorous. i think Ian is saying, when you cut it off, cut it off big.

jeeff: my motto is 'carpe canus'

elaine: is that yappy dogs?

BZZZP: 2nd Dec 2005 - 19:07 GMT

for y'all citynoisers - "animum pictura pascit inani"

Peter: 2nd Dec 2005 - 19:32 GMT

sic ait, atque animum pictura pascit inani
multa gemens, largoque umectat flumine voltum.

sorry... read waaay too much virgil.

GGP: there's never too much virgil.

elaine: ##ew, jeeff##
