Upper East Side Neon

- GGP - Tuesday, November 29th, 2005 : goo

[previous] :: [next]

Everytime I go to the , I hope and pray this place will still be there. I confess that I have never had a soda, a float, a milkshake, candy, lunch, or anything else in there, even though I grew up just blocks away. But the magic of this storefront, which has been there since 1925, is more potent than any temporal sugar infusion. It reeks of time.

Tasty. Typefaces, neon and the promise of sugar, all rolled into one.

Haha- this one too. I love the little paper triangle cups that the water comes in. They then put them in little metal cup holders. It's great. The prices aren't vintage, though :(

elaine: it makes me think the lunches should be tiny

Peter: so... did you go in this time, ggp?

GGP: 30th Nov 2005 - 14:50 GMT

no...sometimes it is better to keep the fantasy in tact.

Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 30th Nov 2005 - 14:55 GMT

Where exactly is this sugar-mecca? I may go and press my nose against the glass.

Peter: hmm, good point!

GGP: 30th Nov 2005 - 15:47 GMT

That place: is so overpriced!

jack: 1st Dec 2005 - 16:42 GMT

Makes me think about script....probably old-fashioned in its own right. Maybe it said "classy" once? Not block letters?
