Condors and Canyon
Browsing articles by Catherine Penfold-waxman - [previous] :: [next]If you see one of these in the Canyon, resist the urge to throw a rock, it is a an endangered species. Californian Condors in the Grand Canyon, May 2005. As taken by Mitch Waxman.
The engine of the propeller plane that didn't pitch us into the canyon (a huge recomendation). www.grandcanyonfoundation.org/projects/condor.html This article has been viewed 3149 times in the last 4 years
Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 25th Nov 2005 - 17:16 GMTtrue...true...not a city, but noisy with tourists....ok, so you caught me. But Condors! Real, live condors! I sent in tons of milk-bottle tops to Blue Peter to save these vultures.
Kato: 25th Nov 2005 - 18:15 GMTWhose milk bottles were they, I didn't think you had milk as a child. Whose TV did you watch Blue Peter on when you lived in the cardboard box with no electricity or running water? jeeff: 25th Nov 2005 - 18:30 GMTwhat are you all going on about? nice photos. i'd love to visit the grand canyon some day. jeeff: 25th Nov 2005 - 18:31 GMTaltho i'm wary after having seen gus van sant's gerry. us.imdb.com/title/tt0302674/ SHORTY gurl: 25th Nov 2005 - 18:57 GMTThe grand canyon is tightbut then it gets oring after a while. i live 2 hours away from it and i go theresome times.i live in phoenix, arizona!!! adam: 25th Nov 2005 - 19:34 GMTi loveddd the canyon.. my jaw dropped when i first got to the south rim and saw the canyon through the trees. it was totally a "what the fuck" moment.. i just wish the tourists wouldve shuttup these pics are nice.. i wanna take the plane next time Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 26th Nov 2005 - 02:59 GMTThe Grand Canyon is amazing. Kudos to the people who hike into the canyon, but it's an astoundingly dangerous place. The plane was totally worth the money (and they rarely plummet from the sky). We took hundreds of photos. Jeeff, don't worry about Kato being barmy. That's my mum. Hi mum!
Kato: 26th Nov 2005 - 15:24 GMTNo it's not your Mum, it's your sibling Lhasa Apso, very intelligent dog. He's just waiting until he gets a camera. He's mastered sleeping and eating so next step is photography, no probs he's Tibetan.
EvilGentleman: 5th Mar 2006 - 09:13 GMTAwesome shots! I am especially impressed with the second one, where you can actually make out the feathers on the wingtips. Marvellous work! I saw the Grand Canyon in 1989 and it was incredible, but unfortunately, I had been to Bryce Canyon, Utah the day before, which makes the Grand Canyon look like just a big hole in the ground by comparision. I spent just a single hour there, before moving on towards Las Vegas. It sort of reminded me of Chevy Chase in Vacation, where he looks at it, says how beautiful it is, then says, "Right! Let's go!"
