I realized today that I haven't taken enough shots of the ubiquitous nyc steam pipe. Maybe I've taken them for granted because they're so common place, but thats exactly the type of thought I want to banish from my head. Nothing is ever to common place that it can't be re-investigated. Lately I've been looking hard in my immediate neighborhood, to try and find things that I haven't considered before - and I've found a lot. With the right light and weather permitting, I'm going to take those shots soon. Your day to day environment can seem pretty mundane at times but it has a way of changing or maybe you do the changing.
Anyway, steam pipes are cool.

yeah. most of the pictures i have posted on cn have been within a half hour walk of where i live and i see more things to photograph all the time. i do live in an interesting neighbourhood, but still, i am interested in the mundane.
nice work on the trick of making the steam pipe look the height of the buildings behind it, by the way

عن أسامة بن زيد ، قال : سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وذكر الجنة فقال : « ألا هل مشمر إليها ؟ هي ورب الكعبة ريحانة تهتز ، ونهر مطرد ، وزوجة لا تموت في حبور ونعيم في مقام أبدا »
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : « ألا مشمر للجنة ؛ فإن الجنة لا خطر لها ، هي ورب الكعبة نور يتلألأ ، وريحانة تهتز ، وقصر مشيد ، ونهر مطرد ، وثمرة نضيجة ، وزوجة حسناء جميلة ، وحلل كثيرة ، ومقام أبدا في دار سليمة ، وفاكهة وخضرة ، وحبرة ونعمة ، في محلة عالية بهية » ، قالوا : نعم يا رسول الله ، نحن المشمرون لها ، قال : « قولوا إن شاء الله » ، فقال القوم : إن شاء الله
عن ابي هريرة ، يقول : قلت : يا رسول الله حدثنا عن الجنة ، ما بناؤها ؟ قال : « لبنة من فضة ، ولبنة من ذهب ، وملاطها المسك الأذفر ، وحصباؤها اللؤلؤ والياقوت ، من يدخلها ينعم لا يبؤس ، ويخلد لا يموت ، لا يبلى ثيابه ، ولا يفنى شبابه »
عن ابن عمر قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يخطب وهو يقول : « لا تنسوا العظيمتين » قلنا : وما العظيمتان ؟ قال : « الجنة والنار » فذكر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ما ذكر ، ثم بكى حتى جرج وائل دموعه جانبي لحيته ، ثم قال : « والذي نفس محمد ، بيده لو تعلمون من علم الآخرة ما أعلم ، لمشيتم إلى الصعيد (1) ، فلحثيتم على رؤوسكم التراب »
ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : « إن النار لا ينام هاربها ، وإن الجنة لا ينام طالبها . اطلبوا الجنة جهدكم ، واهربوا من النار جهدكم »
عن ابي هريرة ، قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : « إن في جهنم واديا يقال له لملم ، إن أودية جهنم لتستعيذ بالله من حره »
عن أبي هريرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : « إن الحميم ليصب على رءوسهم ، فينفذ الجمجمة حتى يخلص إلى جوفه ، فيسلب ما في جوفه حتى يخرق قدميه ، وهو الصهر ، ثم يعاد كما كان »
عن أنس بن مالك ، قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : « لو أن غربا من ماء جهنم جعل في وسط الأرض لأذاب نتنه وشدة ريحه ما بين المشرق والمغرب ، ولو أن شررة من شرر جهنم بالمشرق لوجد حرها من بالمغرب »

the towpath on the canal has not got a separation so that cyclists and pedestrians have enough room. on the towpath, originally devised for horses, cyclists display towards pedestrians the same fascist tendencies as they complain they get from motorists....
