Okay, let's see if that works. For those of you interested in pumpkin pedigree, the pictures above, if they came through, are of the Spawn of the Pumpkin for the County. I like the Spawn so much that I haven't been able to carve it--it has survived Halloween. Is there a family resemblance? Pumpkin for the County was rescued from a pile of pumpkin rejects outside an upstate farmstand after Halloween in 2005, then eventually tossed in the compost. Apparently not all the seeds had been removed, and in the spring the Spawn sprouted unbidden among some other vegetables in the garden. It was carefully tended and eventually harvested and delivered to Brooklyn--a pumpkin for Kings County. By next year, I may have a little garden on local soil. And if I'm lucky, I may be able to bring you...Spawn of Spawn! And so time passes on Citynoise. Happy fall, y'all. GGP: 3rd Nov 2006 - 19:10 GMTSpawn of Spawn! So Biblical! I love the idea of a pumpkin patch ambling down the front of an urban lawn! And Zagg--that SKULL/CROSSBONE pumpkin ROCKS!!!!! Comment on this article..Browsing articles by KC - [previous] :: [next] |
