next time you're in a good used book store or antiquarian book shop, keep your eyes open for a book by Paul Gallico (author of the Poseidon Adventure, the Snow Goose, and many others) called: THE SILENT MAIOW: A MANUAL FOR KITTENS, STRAYS, & HOMELESS CATS, translated from the feline by Paul Gallico.
it's one of the funniest and most insightful books on cats I've ever read, and wittily written from a cat's p.o.v.

actually our neighbor's dobermans are always the noisy ones barking when they're left home alone. we should be the one's throwing the boots.
