Motel Sign
[previous] :: [next]
I dig graphic design. This is a pretty cool motel sign in Las Vegas. This article has been viewed 4250 times in the last 3 years ian: 24th Oct 2005 - 04:59 GMTI can't believe I haven't posted this picture here before! http://valine.org/pf/15.jpg Peter, how do I make images inline in the comments? jeeff: 24th Oct 2005 - 05:37 GMTsame code as in articles. just go to the 'add article' page (www.citynoise.org/post.php here's ian's image:
Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 24th Oct 2005 - 12:57 GMTThat's a beauty, Ian. I wish I'd seen it. Do you remember where you saw it? The 'old' Vegas is much more interesting from a design point of view. I loved Vegas for the crafting of it's image. There's no subtlety. And I hated Vegas for all the same reasons. Here's another sign. It was taken near the Hilton. You can see the first one I posted in the background. Sad sack that I am, I went to the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. It was brilliant. ian: 24th Oct 2005 - 16:57 GMTI agree. Images in comments seems to be a very common theme. One of the best things about CN is people annotating entries with their own experiences, memories, and photos. Definitely make it more clear how to add a photo to a comment. jeeff: 24th Oct 2005 - 23:34 GMTthose signs are great. i really miss the attention to detail in modern shops and gas stations, etc. now (in north america at least) everything is prefab, premade, mass-produced, bland. Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 24th Oct 2005 - 23:59 GMTOk. One last one for you. This sign is funny because it looks like Joan Collins married Michael Jordan (she didn't, did she?). Jamie: 14th Nov 2005 - 09:36 GMTok. so, i did the image upload thing to the comment box. also check out the new author and city browsing features and let me know what you think. If you browse to an article from a city or author page you're then able to browse through the articles from that author/city instead of merely chronologically. this may or may not be the most intuitive method of acheiving this but it's something people have been asking for for a while now. interface suggestions welcomed from jeeff, hool et al J Jamie: 14th Nov 2005 - 10:20 GMTThanks lainey, and srprisingly succulent looking for this time of year. The fag-ends are a nice touch also. These east london city floor portraits are becoming quite your thing aren't they. i'm thinking you could make a whole article out of them by now. jeeff: 14th Nov 2005 - 15:44 GMTcool jamie, i love it! one tiny suggestion: maybe add "etc." after "xxx is brought to you by the following authors:xxxx, xxxx, xxxx" Jamie: 14th Nov 2005 - 15:48 GMTyeh i wasn't sure on that. i limited it to the three highest contributing authorsbut maybe it should be more, like 5. I'll do that though, good call elaine: 14th Nov 2005 - 17:01 GMTfunnily enough i only just realised they were becoming a theme. spooky barry: 15th Nov 2005 - 01:16 GMTyeh j cool job.It defantlay makes c.n more user friendly.I did wonder how you all were going this (uploading photos).I don't think I would use it a lot on less i had a photo that was like "snap" to a photo in a article."but my be that is just me"But it is good to no that it is there how.eg.The alien guy i think i would have uploaded this photo to the article were i seen him.I looked but i did not fined.I also seen some neck face Graffiti last week n.y.c an had no camera with me but i will get back to it. Jamie: 15th Nov 2005 - 13:00 GMTi see your strawberries elaine, and raise you... aer suzuki: 29th Jun 2006 - 10:26 GMTthis is a hot freakin' picture, it looks like it could be the cover to a 1950's style vacation getaway brochure. awesome colors and composition and the clouds look like they did their best to work with you. i went to vegas a couple of years ago and it wasn't until after i returned that i found out there's a 'graveyard' of old vegas signs somewhere out there. i kicked myself for a solid week, i woulda loved to've seen it.
