[previous] :: [next]->it's like music to my eyes This article has been viewed 2918 times in the last 3 years elaine: 17th Oct 2005 - 08:23 GMTfirst one is better, more dynamic, and even without the dynamic angle it looks better without the streetlamp elaine: 17th Oct 2005 - 09:11 GMTit's jaunty. and because the surroundings are clean and clear it contrasts with the bitten up surface of the sign and draws you in to look at that detail GGP: 17th Oct 2005 - 16:42 GMTlooks like a giant je ne sais quoi rat has been gnawing at this sign. kc: 17th Oct 2005 - 19:31 GMTI think the color's intensified in the first one...and I feel the light, as in the daylight, more. (Your photos always make me want to head west.) That street light looks incongruous, as if from a different city or period... joey: 18th Oct 2005 - 02:31 GMTkc. very observent of you. the street light is part of a street renovation completed this year. the music sign i would guess has been there since the 1960s, possibly earlier. elaine: 18th Oct 2005 - 08:16 GMTthe back to front music notation bothers me a bit, but not as much as the thought of the giant je ne sais quoi roaming the streets, hungrily, crawling up buildings to gnaw at signs, its wild eyed unnatural stare freezing in fear as cars approach, and it clings on motionless, impersonating a shadow. it's glassy eyes check the stillness then it shuffles up a bit in a loving stranglehold as it patiently etches away at the delicious plastic.
