From September, I think. Last game or so of the season for the Staten Island Yankees, a team with a view. The Statue of Liberty's out there...

Above, mascots, a staple of minor league ball. The Yankees had a legendary shortstop and later announcer named Phil Rizzuto, nicknamed "The Scooter," whose trademark cry was "Holy Cow!" Hence the outfit. Actually, there was some pretty funny poetry (sometimes haiku). Example:

...You know, it might,
It might sound corny.
But we have the most beautiful full moon tonight.
And the crowd,
Enjoying whatever is going on right now.
They say it might sound corny,
But to me it's some kind of a,
Like an omen.

(I got this from www.zverina.com/bestbooks/poetry.htm, which got it from Oh Holy Cow!: The Selected Verse of Phil Rizzuto, edited by Hart Seely and Tom Peyer.)

Anyway, below, that's the Staten Island ferry crossing behind the outfield.

And here's a fan. Btw, they won, I think.

Next up: Verizon field, next to a storage center in a building that used to house the New York Post.

Shadows of the Manhattan Bridge.

And finally a field a block or two away. No corporate sponsor.
