Essential Maintenance! That's what we're currently doing. You won't be able to post articles or comments for the time being, but normal service will be resumed shortly. Sorry for the downtime, and Happy New Year xox :-) Rant
[previous] :: [next]I was at a party the other night and another guest remarked that he was showing an apartment and that all the potential tenants were young women and they were ALL blonde. How could that be? Hmmm. Below, the incredible diversity of looks being offered to women. The first two I noticed in a waiting room, and the others were simply all the photos I could take with that slow digital shutter before B&N security came to tell me there was no picture taking in the store.

(being blonde doesnt mean you have looks anywyas, im sure there has to be an ugly blonde somewhere) (we need pictures of ugly blondes people - get snapping!) Peter: 23rd Sep 2005 - 14:11 GMTwhy does it seem like a huge cross-section of young/hip nyc women are 90% sex-in-the-city-wannabes with blonde hair and vapid attitudes? kc: 23rd Sep 2005 - 14:56 GMTI won't blame the media, but as you can see from this there's an avalanche of pressure about how to look and probably how to act. If you're at all inclined to listen, it must be hell to resist. Do men feel this at all? I mean, there were probably at least another half-dozen mags with similar images, not to mention the incessant celebrity photos. Who makes these images anyway? The art directors? The stylists? The women themselves? The Times yesterday quoted a pill-pushing weight loss doctor yesterday as saying, "The job of women is to be beautiful." To me it's hideously depressing. I realize this is supposed to be all in the past, we had feminism and that's over, but the issues are still around. jack: 23rd Sep 2005 - 15:45 GMTall women are basically beautiful. its just that some take the time to influence the eyes of a man to gaze upon their beauty and dream. i have noticed that as i got older, i began looking a little more at most women. women have discarded most of their clothing to appear more sexy, more appealing. in my time a women wore a dress or suit with skirt and some very exciting underpinnings. the illuminious garter belt that held up the stockings, those pointed and energizing high heals, ahh, the full slip that held the women together and the beautiful embroidery on the slip. i remember my hands caressing the long legs under a black slip. the way she held onto me. i have to get back to work. bill: 23rd Sep 2005 - 16:15 GMTthats retarded.. i prefer brunnettes.. i wont let the media take that away from me! joey: 24th Sep 2005 - 02:43 GMTthe grocery store check out area looks like this as well. even spicier headlines about the best sex ever!
elaine: 5th Jan 2006 - 16:30 GMTbah and humbug these are bottle blondes by the way, real blondes are pretty and clever, and very very bad tempered... elaine: 5th Jan 2006 - 18:08 GMToh! is that what it is? Catherine Penfold-Waxman: 5th Jan 2006 - 19:41 GMTIf only we could reboot...sigh...
Dev: 30th Jul 2007 - 05:38 GMTI am glad to see there is at least a dialogue about the pressure women are under to look a certain (very limited) way- namely thin, young, blond, and firm. It is worse now than it has ever been, I think, which is very sad. Feminism failed to change much, unfortunately. I wish men could feel the pressure- then perhaps things would change. I am heartened by the slight movement toward men as sex symbols in print ads- perhaps they will begin to feel this horrible pressure. It just plain sucks to be an aging woman in this culture. So many women are getting plastic surgery (having their bodies CUT UP) to try to maintain a youthful appearance- it really is sick. Even sensitive men are just so hung up on women's looks! Come on men- please look beyond the superficial. Life is about feeling a connection with others from the inside- not just gazing at some vapid young thing. Thanks for the opportunity to vent. pinksox: 6th Nov 2007 - 17:32 GMTBrunettes are demure and sweet, and we control EVERYTHING. We RULE!!!!!! anon (S0106001346fafe93.no.shawcable.net): 2nd May 2008 - 03:05 GMTi'm naturally blonde and resent that so many ditzy fake peroxide addicts are ruining it Commenting is temporarily disabled whilst the site undergoes essential maintenance.
