has been a favorite for last couple of years, and has recently been putting up new stuff around Parsons. These were both taken on 5th ave. and 13st. I would love to get his tag into my graffiti analysis project, if anyone knows him please point him in my direction.

katsu in japanese means 'cutlet'. for example, tonkatsu means 'pork cutlet'.

also, serikatsu means 'to win after tough bidding' and is sometimes used to describe passing an exam or interview. tonkatsu is often eaten before an exam for good luck. kitkat (kito-katsu in japanese) also releases a green-coloured special "good luck" version of their chocolate bar during school exam times. it's very popular.

Peter: wow. i just learned something! thanks jeeff :)

cool! it's one of my favourite bits of japanese cultural trivia. i asked many japanese i met about it and most of them replied that yes, they had eaten katsu for good luck. usually their moms will make it for them.
