nice slice-of-life, jamie...

and... are those pickled eggs in the chipshop?

Jamie: 8th Sep 2005 - 14:38 GMT

damn right they are. I have never eaten a . Pickling seems somehow an unatural thing to do with an egg. Thinking about it, i don't think i've ever seen ayone buy a in a . Perhps they are merely for display purposes.

i'm pretty sure i have, but i don't know that i like the idea of how long they might be there. the big pickled onions next to them are lovely tho

I've eaten a pickled egg. I wasn't even drunk. It was pretty good. But the pickled onions are where it's at. It is delicious to see the chip shop and chips. I'm a Brit in New York (I've been here 12 years) so I've been craving all the food that Jamie and Elaine have posted. drooling noises

elaine: 24th Oct 2005 - 13:33 GMT

hahahahaha - fab. glad to inspire drooling, even if it is only over pickled eggs and chips and things

Pickled eggs are quite delicious if you're in the mood, especially the ones in soy sauce. But pickled asparagus rules the roost.

Talking of dodgy foods, after reading this thread I was hungry (chips! Pickled eggs!) so I went to a great Pollo A La Brassa place here in Astoria, Queens for lunch. The soup is chicken heart soup. I personally don't eat the hearts (much to the anoyance of the owners) but the broth is amazing. Astoria rocks the bells like LL.

Pickled Eggs are FABTASTIC!!
Only thing thats missing on your chips there is Chippy Sauce - we in Edinburgh have it, its like a watered down version on HP but when your chips are drowning in it its amazing!!!

Jamie: i prefer gravy
