Street Art in Guanajuato

guanajuato is a colorful colonial city about five hours north of mexico city. historically, the city was the site of important battles in mexico's war for independence. today it is home to thousands of students from the university of guanajuato.

the name "guanajuato" evolved from the native words for "place of the frogs." now the only frogs you see are the cartoon ones decorating kitchy souvenier t-shirts.

guanajuato's popular attractions include diego rivera's birthplace, the international cervantino festival, the cult of death museum and a mummy museum which houses the smallest mummy in the world (eww).
