It was one of those nights. My friend didn't call. I decided to go to the game anyway. But it had started a half hour earlier than I thought. I got back on the train, which wasn't so bad--it's a nice, air-conditioned place to read. I got off at my stop and saw the 16 identical buildings in a row. I'd noticed the other day how over time the decorative cement urns out front had apparently begun to change. Probably there's a lot of history contained in these subtle variations. Each of these is one of a matched pair. I started taking photos in the dark with the flash. The battery ran out. I went back in and got the dog. I finished the job. I resized them all and uploaded them all and now, who knows why, I feel better.

fab-and-a-half! i don't usually like flash photos much, it bleaches things out and people look more horrible than they need to, but here it works better than if you hadda taken them in daylight, the way the 'subject' is picked out. i am not surprised you are pleased with them

joey: dang. that's a lot of work. with nice results
