Peter: 12th Apr 2002 - 03:44 GMTLunapark! Coney Island! yes! I saw a special on Lunapark on pbs this winter; tres creepy and victorian; yet pensively beautiful... o: 12th Apr 2002 - 12:33 GMTour one isn't creepy, it's still open for buisness! there is one weird thing though, the rollercoaster that goes around the perimeter of the park. it's built of wood and looks VERY rickety. i never rode it, out of fear for my life. laziness might also have been a factor. Peter: 12th Apr 2002 - 13:24 GMTI love wooden roller coasters; the ricketier the better, heh. There are still plenty of old wooden roller coasters on Coney Island. I'll have to go out there and make pictures one day, particularly of the abandoned, overgrown one. trouble: 12th Apr 2002 - 17:23 GMTold rickety roller coasters... check out 'roller ghoaster' on ifilm. i love old coasters too, living in detroit we were 2 hours from 'cedar point' which i think still holds the record for most coasters in one place. anyway, they have a ride called the silver streak. an old, old coaster that really whips the shit out of you if you happen to be sitting in the back. nice to know that despite all the technology that a good snap of the neck can be caused simply by wood, bolts and a metal tin of a car moving quickly over hills and valleys. snootch.
trouble: 12th Apr 2002 - 18:15 GMTno, although you made me remember about a really great little park in the middle of lake erie called 'boblo island'. i remember going there a couple of times as a kid. part of the appeal was the old steamboat you had to take to get there. the older i got though the less i loved the ride. to many unsupervised punks running around like they owned the thing. i really wish i could show you pics but i can't find any. here's a link to the history if you are interested. http://detnews.com/history/boblo/boblo.htm
