Papaya King. 86th and Lex is my subway stop. I've been eating papaya king forver- my third word was "hotty-di." Recently, though, my cravings for papaya king have gotten the better of me. I was on the Papaya King Diet (nothing but) for a week or so..I have had to change my route home so as not to walk by the place on my way home. Its so good, though! I'm from Canada and have never been to Chicago. I've always thought life in our housing communities were tough, but realize they are nothing compared to what goes on in the states. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and although the henry horner projects was no village for children to be raised in, it produced alot of strong survivors. Resse 2245 W Lake St: 2nd Aug 2009 - 18:23 GMTI remember hanging out under the building with both Mr. Cobb & Mr. Porter, I had great times in the jets. You all can check me out on myspace @myspace.com/henrysuder or look me up by name:Latanya Scott Mr. Eng Teach.: 16th Nov 2009 - 03:07 GMTI hope none of you mind, but with your permission I would love to use some of these posts for discussion in my English class. I teach English and we are currently reading There are no Children Here. I am truly amazed and touched by the openness from so many of your posts. I can not say that I fully understand the severity of your individual situations, but just by reading all of these makes it so much more clear. I live in NW Indiana. I grew up in South Bend, In, an area that is notorious for gentrification, gangs, and a corrupt welfare system. Anyway, if by chance any of you would like to talk with me, let me ask you a few questions, share personal experiences or anything at all about life, relation to the Rivers, life in one of the homes, well you would never know the amount of impact it would have on my students because they just do NOT get IT. They need to realize that life is not what is always appears, and stereotypes are created to be proved wrong. Please, if you wouldn't mind, be that person that speaks to me. I am a simple 26yr old teacher. I could really use your help. Email me if you would like. Thanks...dhadary@cps.k12.in.us or dhadary18@hotmail.com Comment on this article..[previous] :: [next] |
