- joey - Friday, July 22nd, 2005 : goo

this odd looking fellow sits up there day in and day out watching the commuters stream past on the I580 freeway overpass at broadway, near piedmont ave. by oakland's so called, auto row.

joey, you devil--it's only Thursday! You're jumping the gun.
This see-no-evil lion is a poignant beauty, on a Friday the 22nd or a Thursday the 21st. Timeless, in any zone.

jeeff: 22nd Jul 2005 - 06:18 GMT

he's chained and he has no eyes. shitty deal. i wonder what that symbolizes.

elaine: 22nd Jul 2005 - 07:57 GMT

aha, GGP, the beauty and trickery GMT works abroad...
the kitty goes very well with the rammstein my visitor is playing this morning

GGP: 22nd Jul 2005 - 14:57 GMT

what is GMT, anyway?
General Mandatory Time?
Generic Mediocre Time?
Gentle Mental Tempo?
Please advise.

Peter: greenwich mean time?

elaine: 22nd Jul 2005 - 15:15 GMT

ja ja. greenwich mean time, and i have been there and there is a brass line in the road so you can have a foot in one time and a foot in another, though it doesn't 'work' in that you don't instantly become a time traveller as such. i am starting some skule at greenwich uni which is in the old maritime hospital, and am very excited. i went to a pg conference a coupla nonths ago there and was excited to find that a lot of the pgs giving papers seemed to have a bit of an obsession with the meaning of time...

Peter: elaine: please take photos of the brass line! :)

elaine: 22nd Jul 2005 - 15:29 GMT

you bet i will. i took some photos when i went to greenwich, but not what i wanted for a posting, and i didn't go up the hill to where i know the line is, that day. it had been a while since i had been to greenwich, and i am looking forward to reacquainting myself with it and it's environs over the next few years. the building was lovely - here's a sneak preview

elaine: 22nd Jul 2005 - 15:31 GMT

i made a movie of that view, the lamps were slowly swaying. tick. tock. tick. tock....
and here's another;
